A few months ago we traded in Black Betty, my 2013 Ford Expedition. She was big and beautiful and had so so many miles. I miss her but I cannot get over how perfect my new Mom Car is.
Seriously.
I’ve never owned anything so fancy in my whole life.
Really though, I feel so bougie (boo-shzee) with my leather seats and camera. Black Betty was basic, as was every car I’ve ever driven. This is a big step up for me.
So, in an effort to keep my shiny new mom car clean and organized, I’ve decided to implement different organizing elements to the vehicle.
I love it but, I do wish it had a bigger console. No big deal, I can work with that. I also have started keeping a first aid kit in the car. Having a busy toddler means lots of stumbles and tumbles. It’s always nice to have a kit with tweezers or a band aid handy.
I got my first aid kit from the “Build Your Own Kit” area at Target
Inside I packed:
- Tylenol
- Hand sanitizer
- Gauze
- Band-Aids
- Alcohol pads
- Neosporin
- Lip balm
- Tweezers
- Sore throat suckers
- Eye drops
- Kleenex
- Hand & Face wipes
This is what works for us. Hot summer days a sandy winds result in headaches, dry eyes, and dried up lips so I knew those were the essentials that went in first. Everything else came off of the idea of “What has happened before and I wasn’t prepared??” So it was easy, mesquites and tumbleweeds mean splinters so I threw in some tweezers. Scratches (no matter the size) ALWAYS need a bandaid and because kids are gross… hand sanitizer.
I keep the big red kit in the tiny and very handy hidden compartment in the back of my car. Things I need quickly are kept in the console. Because of the very limited amount of space, I’ve gotten it down to the bare bones.
In my console I have a Travelon Packing Square. They come in sets of 3 and I use the smallest one for this job and they’re available on Amazon. I also have a giant pack of gum and an Eden and Emeralds “Ouch Pouch” which is really handy for an on the go first aid kit.
My small Travelon Square contains items I might need for tech on the go.
Such as:
- Phone charger
- USB cord for my phone
- Mini usb for my daughters Kindle
- MyCharge portable phone charger
- Wall plug w/ USB adapter
- Headphones
- Headphone adapter
It’s everything I’ve needed at one time or another and didn’t have.
In my Ouch Pouch I keep first aid items because you never know what is going to happen when you have a busy 3 year old. Things I have inside are:
- Medicine syringe
- Hand sanitizer
- Tylenol
- Lip balm (2x)
- Contact case with contacts
- Bandaids
- Purell wipes (thanks Chikfila!)
The Ouch Pouch is small enough for me to grab it from the console and toss it in my purse if we’re going to be out of the car for a while. I love it! If you’re interested in one, you can find them on the Eden & Emeralds website. She has so many cute organizational pouches. Everybody should have one.
All my stuff is nice and neat inside Tiny Console and ready to go. It’s summer time now so we are back and forth between parks and pools and adventures in the summer sun!
